EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

The Columbus Public School District shall provide equal opportunity to employees and

governing bodies. Opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment includes

hiring, placement, promotion, transfer or demotion, recruitment, advertising or

solicitation for employment, treatment during employment, rates of pay or other forms of

compensation, and layoff or termination. Employees will support and comply with the

district's established equal employment opportunity and non-discrimination

policies. Employees shall be given notice of this policy annually. The board shall appoint

an employee to serve as non-discrimination compliance coordinator.

 

Individuals who file an application with the school district will be given consideration for

employment if they meet or exceed the qualifications set by the board, administration,

and Nebraska Department of Education for the position for which they apply. In

employing individuals, the district will not discriminate in any aspect of employment with regard to race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, disability,

marital status or genetic background, veteran status, pregnancy or childbirth or related

medical condition.

 

Advertisements and notices for vacancies within the district shall contain the following

statement: "The Columbus Public School District is an equal “opportunity employer

(EOE)." The statement shall also appear on application forms.
