SECRETARY

 

It shall be the responsibility of the board to annually appoint a board secretary.  The secretary shall take the oath of office.

 

A board secretary may be appointed from employees, from the public or from among board members at the annual board organizational meeting.

 

It shall be the duty of the Secretary to:

 

  1. Record all proceedings of the Board and the district meetings in books to be kept for that purpose.
  2. Preserve copies of all reports made to the state.
  3. File all papers transmitted to him by other school officers pertaining to the district.
  4. Countersign all warrants or orders issued by the board.
  5. Keep or delegate the responsibility to keep a register or stub of all orders drawn, showing number, date, amount, purpose, and payee.
  6. See that the school census is taken annually.
  7. Keep an accurate account of expenses incurred by the district of all regular and special meetings of the Board.
  8. Officially notify the members of the board and interested patrons of all regular and special meetings of the board.
  9. File all reports on forms provided by the State Department of Education with the State Commissioner of Education.
