It shall be the responsibility of
the board to annually appoint a board secretary. The secretary shall take the
oath of office.
A board secretary may be
appointed from employees, from the public or from among board members at the
annual board organizational meeting.
It shall be the duty of the
- Record all proceedings of the
Board and the district meetings in books to be kept for that purpose.
- Preserve copies of all reports
made to the state.
- File all papers transmitted to
him by other school officers pertaining to the district.
- Countersign all warrants or
orders issued by the board.
- Keep or delegate the
responsibility to keep a register or stub of all orders drawn, showing
number, date, amount, purpose, and payee.
- See that the school census is
- Keep an accurate account of
expenses incurred by the district of all regular and special meetings of
- Officially notify the members
of the board and interested patrons of all regular and special meetings of
- File all reports on forms
provided by the State Department of Education with the State Commissioner
